Henry Cavill’s CGI-erased mustache had been the mane attraction of the 2017 Justice League film, mostly because the botched job reportedly took millions of dollars out of Warner Bros’ pockets.
The actor had to keep his facial hair during the production of the film, as its schedule clashed with that of Mission: Impossible 6, forcing Warner Bros. to edit it out in post-production. Despite its efforts, many wished ‘Superman’ had retained his mustache, as they could still sense the presence of its ghost.
Rest easy, fans. Thanks to keen eyes at movie news site Reel Anarchy, ‘Superman’s real mustache has been unmasked. The publication noticed that Chris Jenkins, who was a re-recording mixer for Justice League, uploaded an image of the actor before the film’s footage was edited on his website.
Cavill’s magnificent mustache in his ‘Superman’ character is now for all to view. Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice some dots marked on his mug, which let the VFX crew know where to track his face.
Since the debut of the Justice League movie, indignant viewers have attempted to digitally remove Cavill’s omnipresent facial hair more economically and effectively.
