An IKEA store has honored a seven-year-old’s desire to have its iconic blue flags spruced up.
Charlotte from Melbourne went past the Springvale IKEA store in Melbourne’s south east with her family one day and imagined how IKEA’s blue flags might appear more appealing with a gorgeous rainbow unicorn on them.
She decided to reach out to IKEA Australia CEO Jan Gardberg with a note, along with with a sketch of the mythical creature she envisioned, that asked for a redesign of the “boring, old flags” located near the store.
Thankfully, her request, was met with fantastic news. Julian, the store manager of Springvale IKEA, got back to her saying that Charlotte’s design will be hoisted around the store’s building and its nearby road.
Agreeing with how mundane the current design might look, Julian promised to debut Charlotte’s artwork on the IKEA Springvale flags to celebrate National Unicorn Day, which is a real holiday commemorated on 9 April.
On this very day, Charlotte will see her new flag fly up high. She will also be invited as guest-of-honor to the store with her family. Additionally, IKEA will organize activities for kids, such as unicorn face painting, on Unicorn Day.
