After eight years, the ending of HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones (GoT) is nigh. Weirdly enough, this seems to have given ‘Westeros’ and ‘Essos’ licence to cross over to this universe with GoT-themed Oreos, a secret Shake Shack menu, and iron thrones sitting in obscurity around this world.
In time, fans literally have to face the music about the show’s conclusion, as its creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, have revealed the ending can be found in the series’ official Spotify playlist titled Game of Thrones: The End is Coming.
“The answer to the ending is 100-percent hidden in the playlist choices,” the two divulge in a press release.
A variety of genres—rock, metal, and more—sit in this collection of tracks, which feature tunes like Danzig’s Her Black Wings, Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan’s Girl from the North Country, Rage Against The Machine’s Sleep Now in the Fire, and Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song.
Aside from possibly including spoilers, Benioff and Weiss explain that the songs are telling of how the show’s plot and production made them feel. While the tracks differ in sound, they all embody “a deep inherent power.”
See if you can shape some concrete theories through the Spotify playlist before the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones premieres on 14 April.
