After making headlines for its neutral and inclusive clothing range, US retailer is taking steps to help save the environment by coming up with unisex eco-friendly sneakers.
Called ‘Tread by Everlane’, the sneakers have almost no virgin plastic in them. This implies a staggering 18,000 pounds of rubber are kept out of landfills.
Besides durable leather that makes up a large part of the shoes, the laces, lining, and strobel board are produced using recycled plastic.
This launch is in line with Everlane’s goal to completely do away with virgin plastic use in all its products by 2021, as the sneakers are 94.2-percent free of plastic.
Sizes run between seven and 13 for men, and five through 12 for women.
For all sneaker-loving environmentalists, look forward to the debut of the unisex shoes, which are available to shop for next week on 25 April. The footwear costs less than US$100 and will satisfy many preferences for they come in seven different colors, ranging from basic white and black to silver and even blush pink.
