Burger King Now Delivers ‘Whoppers’ Directly To Cars Caught In Traffic
By Izza Sofia, 08 May 2019
Burger King is pulling out all the stops by ensuring that angry drivers will be appeased while stuck in a traffic jam.
Together with advertising agency We Believers, the fast food chain has introduced the ‘Traffic Jam Whopper’, a delivery service that sends its food items to customers who are stuck behind the wheel in congested areas of Mexico City.
Using real-time traffic data, the chain tracks frustrating traffic jams, and signals drivers through digital billboards and Waze banner ads when the on-the-road delivery service is available.
Customers can order their meals via the Burger King app, with varying delivery charges being applied depending on where they’re stuck in.
Those concerned about getting caught using their phones can rest easy, as they can also utilize voice commands to place their orders on the app. The digital billboards will also update drivers on their delivery timing, while Burger King couriers will check Google Maps to track where to drop the orders.
According to Burger King, it will also be implementing this idea in Los Angeles, Shanghai and Sao Paulo. The campaign has seen a 63-percent surge in delivery within a week, while its daily download rate app has increased 44 percent.
