Avengers: Endgame has outshined 1997’s Titanic to become the second highest-grossing movie of all time, raking in US$2.27 billion and counting.
Not to be daunted by his record being surpassed within two weeks of Avengers: Endgame opening, Titanic’s director James Cameron creatively congratulated Marvel Studios by mashing Endgame’s purple ‘A’ monogram with an image of the RMS Titanic.
The brilliant graphic portrays the Avengers logo as an iceberg about to tip over the ship. It comes with a wholesome message by Cameron to producer Kevin Fiege and Marvel, which reads, “An iceberg sank the real Titanic. It took the Avengers to sink my Titanic. Everyone here at Lightstorm Entertainment salutes your amazing achievement.”
“You’ve shown that the movie industry is not only alive and well, it’s bigger than ever!”
Cameron’s Avatar still leads as the highest-grossing film yet, but only time will tell if even that will be outranked by the Marvel blockbuster.
