‘Avengers’ Directors Reveal ‘Thor’ Almost Kissed ‘Valkyrie’ In Deleted Scene
By Izza Sofia, 15 May 2019
The Russo brothers have revealed another scene that they removed from Avengers: Endgame during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Spoilers ahead if you have not seen the film.
According to Joe and Anthony Russo, they cut off a scene where ‘Thor’ attempts to kiss ‘Valkyrie’, which happens towards the end of the movie.
After the Avengers defeat ‘Thanos’, ‘Thor’ decides to go his own way with the Guardians of the Galaxy, handing over his throne to ‘Valkyrie’.
Anthony Russo describes that the cut shows ‘Valkyrie’ placing her arm over ‘Thor’s shoulder, spurring him to lean in for a kiss. ‘Valkyrie’, however, goes, “What are you doing?”
A confused ‘Thor’ seems to have thought she was being flirty, which she clarifies to just be a “goodbye tap.”
The Russos explain that the hilarious scene was mostly improvised, but they decided to remove it because they “wanted to keep things tight” within the film’s three-hour runtime.
