Burger King Creates Tiny Flame Grills To Feed City That Doesn’t Have Its Outlets
By Izza Sofia, 28 May 2019
Burger King has over 650 restaurants in Turkey, and is apparently one of the most notable fast food restaurants in the country. Sadly, not every citizen gets to enjoy its meals.
While the cities of Istanbul, Ankara and Batman are all dotted with Burger King restaurants, one area has been deprived of them. As such, residents of Sinop have been begging for the chain to open an outlet in their city, but the company thinks it has a better idea.
Burger King decided to send citizens of Sinop their very own mini Burger King grills so they could create their own ‘Whoppers’ in the comfort of their own homes. To make this happen, the chain teamed up with marketing agency VMLY&R Istanbul to design the ‘Mini Flame King’. These tiny charcoal grills look similar to a ‘Whopper’ box, complete with the restaurant’s logo.
The grill is accompanied with miniature tongs and charcoal nubs, assuaging locals that they wouldn’t be missing out anymore.
For the promotional ads, both Burger King and VMLY&R Istanbul released a series of videos showing a man grilling his own ‘Whopper’ while reading out the complaints of the city’s residents.
The movement has caught the attention of other cities in the country, who are now demanding for the grills to arrive their way as well. Thankfully, the chain has produced an extra 500 grills to accommodate their requests.
