‘Pokémon Sleep’ Is A New Game Where The More You Snooze, The More You Don’t Lose
By Yimin Huang, 31 May 2019
Pokémon Go is perfect for anyone wishing to catch their forty winks, but it’s not because its concept is boring or exhausted. Rather, it’s the base for an upcoming game called Pokémon Sleep, which rewards players for sleeping.
In fact, Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO of the Pokémon Company, said in a press statement on Tuesday that Pokémon Sleep will “turn sleeping into entertainment.”
The official Twitter account of Pokémon also cheekily announced that “Several ‘Snorlax’ were consulted on this, in case you were wondering.”
The app will be released early next year on both Android and iOS devices, and will work with a new device called ‘Pokémon Go Plus+’, an extension of the ‘Pokémon Go Plus’ gadget with add-ons for slumbers.
Here, sleep patterns will be tracked and monitored, then sent to your smartphone via Bluetooth. With the new app, players can play Pokémon Go both during the day and at night, so they can look forward to greeting new pocket monsters when they wake up.
The game is developed by Select Button, the same company behind Pokémon Magikarp Jump. Find out more here.
