KFC Debuts Fried Chicken Skin For Fans Who Think It’s The Best Part
By Yimin Huang, 07 Jun 2019
KFC enthusiasts might argue that the batter is the best part of its fried chicken. Little wonder, as it is where the flavor of the restaurant’s eleven secret herbs and spices is most apparent.
Now, a lucky selection of fans can enjoy all that crunch, as five KFC locations have added fried chicken skin—just the skin—to their menus. Unfortunately, the item is only available in Indonesia.
A serving of fried chicken skin can be purchased at Rp13,636 (US$0.96) in outlets in Indonesia’s Salemba, Cideng, Kalimalang, Kemang and Kelana Gading, if they are not sold out due to popular demand by now.
Aside from this limited edition menu item, KFC indonesia serves interesting options like tater tots, spaghetti and pancakes, which cannot be found in the US.
In an exclusive report by The Sun, Instagram responses to the fried chicken skin have been overwhelmingly positive. One said he was “overjoyed,” while another said the item was “really crispy and crunchy,” and that they would order the chicken skin again. There have been so many compliments that someone reminded others they need not “fight over the skin.”
It is unclear whether fried chicken skin would ever make it to KFC’s US restaurants. However, judging from the high praise, one can hope that it does.
