Hollywood is welcoming more biopics into the film world after Bohemian Rhapsody took the world by storm.
Now, a movie centering on Boy George’s rise to stardom in the 80s is in the works, and Sophie Turner is one of the potential names to play his young self.
The film, which was first announced in May, will be directed by Sacha Gervasi, who told People that everyone who patronized London clubs in the early 80s knew George was going to be a star because he was “impossible to miss.”
Boy George also revealed that he was keen on the ‘GoT’ actress Sophie Turner playing a younger version of himself. On an Australian radio show, he said although he found it strange, Turner has “piqued his interest most.” Many might not agree with his choice because Turner is a woman, but George said he would have loved to be her as a 17-year-old.
The resemblance between the two stars is uncanny, especially so with their photos placed aside each other. Turner, too, has spoken out and isn’t shy about her interest to play the musician either. “I’m so down,” she said on Twitter.
However, not everyone is pleased with Turner as young George. Host of Good Morning Britain Piers Morgan thought a girl playing Boy George was “ridiculous.”
“Why do we encourage this kind of nonsense?” he questioned. Morgan thought a man seemed more fitting to play the role of young George.
