‘Eleven’ of Stranger Things endures a nose bleed each time she influences something to move with her mind. Thankfully, her portrayer Millie Bobby Brown doesn’t have to undergo anything too physically taxing.
Of the 18 June episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden, the 15-year-old actress told the host that a “pot of ‘blood’” and a “squeezy bottle” are utilized to make the nose of the telekinetic ‘Eleven’ bleed at the appropriate time.
Brown has to lift up her head before each take that involves a bloody nose, whereupon a bit of the red concoction gets squeezed into her nose.
When she’s ready to proceed with the scene, “I put my head down and I say, ‘Okay guys, everybody ready… roll camera, action!’” and waits.
Brown’s attempt would be considered successful if the “blood” drips after her prompt, but if it doesn’t, “I’ve screwed up my timing.”
As for what the fake blood is made out of, the actress details that it’s an edible mixture containing what tastes like corn syrup as a thickener, as she tastes it sometimes when it drips down her throat. The liquid is “quite sweet,” she describes.
Stranger Things 3 debuts on 4 July. You can watch its newly-released trailer below.
