Apple’s Jony Ive Leaves The Company To Open His Own Design Firm After 27 Years
By Izza Sofia, 28 Jun 2019

Jony Ive, the creative force of some of Apple’s most successful inventions, will be departing from the company after almost 30 years.
The company made the announcement on its website on Thursday, attributing Ive’s departure to his decision to start his own design company.
The new firm, called LoveFrom, will have Apple as its primary client, and the two will be working closely in future projects.
Ive is known to have played a huge part in Apple’s minimal aesthetic since he joined the company in 1992. The Chief Design Officer of Apple worked with Steve Jobs to create a range of Apple products including the colorful iMacs and the original iPhone, a game changer that brought the company millions of dollars. In Apple CEO Tim Cook’s words, Ive’s “role in Apple’s revival cannot be overstated.”
“Apple will continue to benefit from Jony’s talents by working directly with him on exclusive projects, and through the ongoing work of the brilliant and passionate design team he has built,” Cook clarified. “After so many years working closely together, I’m happy that our relationship continues to evolve and I look forward to working with Jony long into the future.”
Aside from working at Apple, Ive took up numerous side projects including designing a high-end Leica camera and a diamond ring that was sold for over US$256,000.
According to the Financial Times, Ive’s LoveFrom will be based in California and will be launched in 2020.
