Getting ripped is usually seen as an attractive thing, but actor Simon Pegg has been getting what he describes as “weird” comments on his body after training hard for a film.
His personal trainer Nick Lower shared pictures of the actor’s shredded body, a feat that is likely even more difficult to achieve considering he is 49 years old. However, the physical transformation has gotten mixed reactions from people on social media. Though there have been fans who praised his body, there have also been people who said he seemed “ill.”
Lower’s caption specified that Pegg’s workout was for a role in the Inheritance film that required him to be “very lean.”
In a recent interview with GQ Hype, Pegg opened up about the responses to his picture, saying that he found them “weird” and that his wife also thought he “looked ill.” He also said there were people who praised the weight loss, but followers generally did not realize that the picture was not intended to be “aspirational.”
He elaborated that it was simply a snapshot that his trainer took and that he did not expect such a hoo-ha. He only thought that people still had the impression that he was “that schlubby guy” from Shaun of the Dead.
It took a lot for Pegg to get that toned. His schedule included strict diets and hardcore training that only allowed for one off-day. The outcome was the loss of 19 pounds of body weight and merely eight percent of body fat left in his body.
