Women Enjoy Porn Just As Much As Men, New Research Reveals

It is commonly assumed that men are just more “visual” creatures than women when it comes to sexual attraction, and that females focus more on the personality traits of potential mates.
However, new research published by the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America has shown that both men and women are turned on by watching porn, and there is no evidence that women do not respond to visual cues.
Adults of different sexes and sexual orientation were presented images of non-naked everyday people, as well as erotic imagery, while their brains were scanned by a machine, in a total of 61 studies.
The results? There was minimal difference in male and female brains to be found, as the brain activities of both men and women showed they were turned on, with reactions in the amygdala, insula and striatum.
Researchers also inspected men and women’s grey matter in the insula and anterior cingulate—areas connected to sexual arousal—and did not find notable differences after looking into more than 30 studies.
Researchers wrote that the assumed difference in processing visual sexual stimuli might have been driven by factors like “opposing attitudes towards sexual material, varying levels of sexual motivation, insufficient sample sizes” and more.
They also believe the assumptions of men enjoying porn more could be due to women’s lack of exposure to sexual content, in addition to society’s tendency to shame females for watching and enjoying such materials. One thing is clear: being a woman does not mean watching porn is not for you.
