Last month, photos of a shirtless Jason Momoa at a pool went under the scrutiny of body-shaming trolls.
The Aquaman star has now flipped the hurtful comments into blessings, as he has turned his physique into a “billboard” to voice his views about an astronomical observatory and a 30-meter (98-foot) telescope being built in his birthplace, Hawaii.
The Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) is slated to be installed on Mauna Kea, a mountain deemed sacred by Hawaiians.
Momoa is in protest of the telescope being set up on the mountain, but understands the educational value it will bring. As such, he has kindly proposed for its setup to be on Canary Island, where conditions are more ideal… by writing the suggestion on his body.
Using his torso as a canvas, Momoa wrote, “TMT + Canary Island = Discovery,” acknowledging that while the choice of location might not be wise, the telescope could still be useful elsewhere.
He even enlisted his son, Nakoa-Wolf, to join his demonstration, writing, “TMT + Mauna Kea = Desecration” on the 10-year-old’s upper body. Both “billboards” were photographed and uploaded on Instagram.
Taking a jab at body-shamers, the actor added the “#DadBodIsAGreatBillboard” to his post.
“We are the resistance we will never give up," he explained. "Please leave [our] Mauna alone. You have taken enough from our people.” The Momoas join Honolulu-raised Dwayne Johnson in objecting the telescope.
