A real-life optical illusion recorded above a road has left internet users scratching their heads.
Shared by Twitter user @aw_273, the 20-second clip shows a bunch of cars “disappearing” after turning off a street.
Viewers have been racking their brains trying to figure out where the vehicles could have gone to, since the motorists appear to be headed towards a barrier and a river.
“Have they found a gateway into a new dimension?” one Twitter user asks.
A Twitter user describes that the video is actually a trick of perspective, and has kindly explained their theory on what might be going on in the video. The “river,” they deduce, is really a roof obscuring the road where the cars are turning into.
Even with this explanation, viewers might still struggle to understand the footage.

YEEESSS. Me for two days: “What do you mean it’s a roof? How? It’s a river raging under a bridge. BUT THERE’S WATER. STOP. I’M GOING TO CRY”.— Jo Usmar (@jousmar) August 6, 2019

The view is from the top of a building so the street view is blocked— Ross Kaye (@Cryptoross) August 5, 2019
