Nike’s Latest ‘Air Force 1’ Sneakers Seem To Be Inspired By… Crocs?
By Izza Sofia, 20 Aug 2019
Nike has released its latest ‘Air Force’ sneakers, but its design is raising a few eyebrows.
The ‘Air Force 1 VTF’ sneakers feature black leather uppers with hints of gold outlining its soles and the signature ‘Swoosh’. However, this new design also comes with a heel strap that will remind you of Crocs’ sandals.
While the front trainers looked like a standard sneaker, it has an open back with the ‘Swoosh’ doubling up as the strap around your heel. Nike described its new sling back design that is equipped with an elastic strap as “having all of the elements of a classic look” that is “easy to take on and off.” Currently available in kids’ sizes, the sneakers will set you back by US$90.
When the first promotional images of the trainers hit the internet, Twitter users were confused looking at them, with some implying that it looked like a lovechild of Crocs and Nike. Others brought up a very good point of whether one should wear socks underneath the shoes. Take a look at other hilarious responses below.
If Crocs and Nike had a baby it would most certainly look like this. https://t.co/ZetmKNNgWy— Cealey Godwin (@CealeyGodwin) August 15, 2019
