Did Apple Copy Elon Musk’s The Boring Company Logo For Its Apple TV+ Show?
By Izza Sofia, 21 Aug 2019
Apple has unveiled its logo for its web television series The Morning Show, but internet users think it is a little too close for comfort with the branding of Elon Musk’s logo for The Boring Company.
The new Apple TV+ program has been given a bold typographic design, set in a pastel yellow. The words “the” and “show” sandwich the word “morning” and clip the edges of the wordmark. The letter ‘o’ is also fully filled in yellow.
Understandably, the eye-catching title has also drawn similarities with that of The Boring Company, which while cast in black, features a similar arrangement down to the colored-in letter ‘o’, driving Redditors to call out Apple for apparently copying the design.
The filled-in ‘o’ in The Boring Company’s logo demonstrates what Musk’s firm does: drilling holes. Apple’s version, on the other hand, is perhaps in reference to the morning sun.
I guess the Apple TV team took "Good artists copy; great artists steal." to heart. pic.twitter.com/i4fSP8HJ0O— Brent Caswell (@brentcas) August 12, 2019
