‘Spider-Man’ Memorial Appears Outside Disney Expo To Mourn Sony Breakup
By Izza Sofia, 26 Aug 2019
It has been a week since the saga over Spider-Man leaving the MCU, but some fans are still reeling from the loss.
The news seems to have greatly impacted many viewers, with one even being driven to hold a small memorial outside Disney’s D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center.
The tiny shrine comprised a photo of Tom Holland in his Spider-Man suit, surrounded by flower petals. It was one of several tributes by forlorn guests, including one where a fan dressed up as the superhero while holding a sign reading, “Far From MCU.”
Tom Holland, who was there to promote Disney’s animated movie Onward, appeared in front of the D23 audience to address the conflict between Disney and Sony. He appeared impartial to both companies, but expressed his appreciation to the Marvel team, declaring that although it had been a crazy week, “I want you to know, I love you 3000.”
