After the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) initially banned the Star Wars-themed Coca-Cola bottles from flights back in August, it has decided to reverse the decision.
The special edition bottles were initially placed on the no-fly list for resembling detonators. When a passenger asked whether he could bring the detonator lookalikes on the plane via TSA’s Twitter account, he got a definite no, “Replica and inert explosives aren't allowed in either carry-on or checked bags.”
However, on 28 August, a TSA spokesperson announced that the authorities decided to reverse the ban.
He clarified that these bottles would be treated as “oversized liquid” as they contain liquids larger than the standard 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters). Therefore, travelers can still carry them in checked luggages, provided that they empty the liquids before boarding the flight.
Thanks to the change in policy, fans can finally bring the bottles home from Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy Edge theme park without risking a clash with the authorities.
