Following the passing of legendary fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh on Tuesday, Meghan Markle has posted a tribute in memory of her friend.
On the Sussex Royal social media channels, the Duchess posted a never-before-seen photo of the two in an embrace, presumably taken in Los Angeles where the late Lindbergh photographed her for the October 2017 issue of Vanity Fair magazine.
The German-born photographer would go on to photograph the 15 influential women featured on Markle’s guest-edited British Vogue September 2019 issue.
“His work is revered globally for capturing the essence of a subject and promoting healthy ideals of beauty, eschewing photoshopping, and preferring natural beauty with minimal makeup,” the Duchess wrote in her caption.
“[British Vogue’s] ‘Forces for Change’ [issue] was one of the esteemed photographer’s final published projects,” she added. Markle also said that “there [was] no other photographer” she imagined would “bring this meaningful project to life.”
“He will be deeply missed,” the Duchess of Sussex concluded.
Peter Lindbergh died at the age of 74, and is survived by his wife Petra, first wife Astrid, four sons and seven grandchildren. The cause of his death is not known to the public.
