Volkswagen Officially Unveils New Branding With Logo That Has Its Own Sound
By Izza Sofia, 10 Sep 2019
Volkswagen unveiled its redesigned logo at the Frankfurt Motor Show alongside its new electric ID car. The company has also published official visuals of its rebrand titled ‘New Volkswagen’.
Adopting a two-dimensional look, the new logo has a much cleaner appearance, having been distilled to its essential features. The “V” and “W” remain stacked, but the typeface of the lettermark has been updated. The overhauled emblem is also designed to be flexible and mobile-friendly, and will be illuminated on future vehicles.
On top of the design change, the new symbol is also the first “sound logo” introduced by the company. Volkswagen aims to build its brand in “acoustic terms” through communications and its vehicles. The “sound logo” comes with a soothing tune and a woman’s voice reading the brand name at the end.
Speaking about the new sound logo, Volkswagen’s chief designer Klaus Bischoff says it represents the “emotional presentation of e-mobility.” Have a closer look at the makeover below.
