IKEA lighted up the part of street fashion lovers’ brains that says “must buy” when it revealed it was launching an artful home collection with Off-White founder and Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Artistic Director Virgil Abloh.
A new try-on exhibition called “FITTING ROOMS” in Covent Garden, London will let visitors sample pieces from the collaborators’ ‘MARKERAD’ collection featuring beds, chairs and rugs. According to HYPEBEAST, the popup will showcase “fashion you can’t wear” that’s made for “statement-dressing” homes.
The “FITTING ROOMS” have been designed for the ’Gram, with Abloh’s rendition of the famous ‘FRAKTA’ bag—emblazoned with the word “SCULPTURE”—hanging off a marble statue. The collection’s receipt-inspired rug will also be depicted to be “printed” out of a till.
Time slots are monitored with a limited edition “TEMPORARY” clock, and visitors can make their trip more memorable at the temporary tattoo station.
The Virgil Abloh x IKEA “FITTING ROOMS” will open ahead of the capsule’s UK launch in November on 15 and 16 September at Shorts Gardens, Seven Dials, London, WC2H 9AT.
