The last time fans of the MCU saw Iron Man was when he heroically snapped his fingers to defeat ‘Thanos’ in Avengers: Endgame. The film bid farewell to three iconic characters, ‘Tony Stark’, ‘Steve Rogers’ and ‘Natasha Romanoff’, who lived in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade.
Though their Marvel contract is almost done, there is still one more film underway, the Black Widow prequel, which will be heading to theaters next year.
This gives viewers hope that at least one of the characters that passed on might just be resurrected through a prequel. As the other hero who died, Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘Iron Man’ will likely don his armor once more for the upcoming film, according to a leak published by Deadline.
As a recap of the 45th Annual Saturn Awards, Deadline let slip that Downey will be “seen in the role of ‘Stark’ one more time,” and will appear in the “Marvel prequel, Black Widow.”
Scarlett Johansson was first featured in the MCU in Iron Man 2 as a personnel of ‘Stark Industries’ under the name ‘Natalie Rushman’, but was later revealed to be a spy for ‘S.H.I.E.L.D’.
Therefore, it might not be that much of a shock to have ‘Iron Man’ in Black Widow’s standalone film.
The prequel will surround the life of ‘Black Widow’ before her inevitable death. Since the film will feature a period before Endgame, fans are hoping to learn how ‘Natasha’ finds her way to ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’, and of course, what happened in Budapest between her and ‘Hawkeye,’ who was the one who recruited her to the team.
The Black Widow film is set to premiere on 1 May 2020.
