Put Safety First With The ‘World’s Safest Bike Helmet’ That Comes With Airbag
By Yimin Huang, 18 Sep 2019
Swedish brand Hövding has come up with a quirky cycling helmet that gives bikers extra protection. It is the “world’s safest helmet,” according to the company’s CEP Frederik Carling.
The helmet is created after four years of development and research. The brand aims to create a helmet that is safe and equally enticing to cyclists. The resulting product has incorporated advanced airbag technology and a function that allows users to contact people during an emergency.
According to the surveys that the company carried out, 70 per cent cyclists from “seven major European cities” would “cycle more” if safety issues are resolved, according to Metro UK.
Other unique additions include a stronger battery that can last 15 hours, and a related iOS and Android app that allows the brand to gather information on the most accident-prone areas. The data is collected to petition for better infrastructure in those areas.
The safety helmet can be activated during an emergency, where it records movements 200 times a second, and can be inflated in merely 0.1 seconds to protect the biker’s head and neck.
So far, over 185,000 bikers have begun using the product and 4,000 have found it extremely useful during risky situations. For those who prioritize safety over price, you can get the high-end helmet here for £249 (US$310.62).
