Volkswagen Corrects Illegally Parked Beetle On The Beatles’ Abbey Road Album

If you look closely, The Beatles’ iconic 1969 album cover—where the band members are shown walking across Abbey Road—features a white Volkswagen Beetle parked in the background.
The white vehicle wasn’t parked properly at the side of the road, however. Half of it was resting on the street while the other was seated on the sidewalk.
In celebration of the album’s 50th anniversary, Volkswagen decided to recreate the album—and this time, park the car legally. Along with advertising agency Nord DBB Sweden, Volkswagen Sweden recreated the scene with a properly positioned white car.
The creative doubles as an advert for Volkswagen’s ‘Park Assist’ feature, and wittily tells audiences that the anonymous driver would not have any difficulty parking his car in this day and age, thanks to the new technology.
The remastered album covers are currently for sale online, and profits will be donated to Swedish children’s rights nonprofit Bris.
Speaking about the campaign, Volkswagen Sweden’s marketing director Jeanette Asteborg says the company is always keeping up with technology so that nobody “has to live with the constant reminder of a parking fail.”
