Justin Bieber Hits Back At PETA For Controversy Over His Exotic Cats
By Yimin Huang, 07 Oct 2019
Justin Bieber has responded to PETA harshly after the animal rights organization went after his decision to purchase two expensive exotic cats as pets.
The singer purportedly spent around US$35,000 on two wild Savannah cats called Sushi and Tuna, according to Metro UK.
Bieber showed his love for the exotic cats by posting the images on Instagram, and even created a social media page for the pets with username @kittysushiandtuna. PETA however, isn’t too happy and has released a statement against his decision to spend on the expensive cats instead of adopting from shelters.
PETA president Ingrid Newkirk claimed “millions of animals” are dying because not enough people are adopting shelter animals, but instead decide to “shop” for pets.
Bieber has since hit back at the organization, telling the team to “suck it” and to “focus on real problems” instead of his pets.
On his Instagram stories, Bieber called PETA out for “tripping” simply because he was going for a certain type of cat, and remained mum when he adopted his pet dog Oscar from the shelter. He made the point that while he “believed in” adopting from shelters, there are “preferences” and not every pet needs to be adopted.
He ended the heated response by asking PETA to deal with all the “plastic in the ocean” instead of focusing on his “beautiful” exotic pets.
