Apple has successfully turned its products into status symbols, including—of all things—earbuds. This is especially true with the AirPods Pro. At US$249, they’re US$100 pricier than the already highly-coveted AirPods.
Chances are, Apple users who own both the AirPods and AirPods Pro won’t really be using their older earbuds anymore, so they’ve pooled their accessories together for the last time by… transforming them into bluetooth audio monsters.
A new social media craze has Apple owners turning their stubbier AirPods Pro into arms and their lengthier AirPods into legs, with their wireless charging cases becoming the heads and torsos of the “monsters.” In some instances, the earbuds have also been imagined as animal tails.
The trend is believed to have started from Twitter user Xiaomishka, whose creation was reposted by tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee. Since then, fans have been flexing their AirPods to the fullest.
