Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck’s outlandish taste for humor might be a far cry from that of Chandler Bing from Friends, but the Joker has somehow elicited some déjà vu involving the sarcastic sitcom character.
Viewers have joked that Arthur Fleck’s infamous staircase dance is a dead ringer for the Friends character’s oddball dance moves, and even Matthew Perry—who played Chandler Bing from the iconic series—agrees.
Perry took to Twitter to share a meme depicting side-by-sides of Arthur Fleck’s whimsical moves versus Chandler Bing’s arm flailing. The image is captioned with, “cinematic parallels.”
“You’re welcome,” Perry commented.
The hilarious comparisons have impelled internet users to scour old Friends footage to uncover more scenes where Joker might have been “inspired” by the Chan Chan Man.
Have a chuckle at some uncanny similarities found by fans.
