The all-new trailer of blockbuster film Cats has surfaced online, and internet users are still traumatized. The new footage is supposed to be a re-edit of the initial trailer to make the characters look a little less disturbing, but the Twitter users are still not having it.
The star-studded movie will feature Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, Judi Dench and James Corden.
When the scene of a feline Idris Elba appeared, many users were truly mortified to see his naked furry body. “I am terrified of Idris Elba cat. This is my sleep paralysis demon,” one user wrote on Twitter.
Though the production crew managed to improve the CGI and make some adjustments such as removing the fur from Taylor Swift’s fingers, viewers still directed their horror at the human-cat hybrids.
Many were both intrigued and daunted by how the humans looked with CGIed cat-like alterations. Director Tom Hooper clarified how the team executed the man and feline combination in a behind-the-scenes clip: with “digital fur technology,” the team was able to “create the most perfect covering of fur.”
Corden also explained in the video that “these are people, but they’re cats,” and Cats composer Andrew Lloyd Webber seconded this description, telling Good Morning Britain that the technique “turns you into a cat.” He further detailed, “So it’s Taylor Swift, you know it’s Taylor Swift, but she’s a cat.”
Of course, like anything that becomes popular on the internet, the Cats trailer ended up becoming a meme.

as soon as I saw @catsmovie gave the lady cats breasts, I should have assumed someone would shake them while dancing but I still wasn't prepared for the reality of what that would look like... pic.twitter.com/tT24lyBcAG— Jarett Wieselman (@JarettSays) November 19, 2019
My therapist: You need to stop fixating on Cat Taylor Swift’s finger fur. It's not real and it can't hurt you.— emma loves the farewell (@msmegalodon) August 5, 2019
