“Oh my f**king god,” exclaimed Elon Musk after Tesla’s ultra-durable windows cracked from being hit by a ball at a live demonstration.
On Thursday, the Tesla CEO unveiled the Cybertruck, an electric pickup truck designed for “ultimate durability.” According to the Tesla website, the vehicle’s windows itself are made with “ultra-strong glass and polymer-layered composite” to “absorb and redirect impact force for improved performance and damage tolerance.”
Imagine how awkward it had gotten when the “bulletproof” windows eventually smashed at Musk’s demonstration, streamed live for the world to see.
To conduct the test, Musk invited Tesla’s design chief Franz von Holzhausen to whack the driver’s side door using a sledgehammer, as the truck is touted for its robust exoskeleton. The vehicle was left unharmed.
What didn’t exactly live up to its name was the Tesla Armor Glass used for the Cybertruck’s windows. Holzhausen was later asked to hurl a metal ball at the “bulletproof” windows, and to the audience’s amusement, the ball cracked the glass. Twice.
Musk proceeded his presentation while standing in front of the broken glass, and obviously, social media users didn’t let him live this fail down.
they tried to show you can't break the windows but they did break so now Elon Musk is presenting in front of a busted car. incredible pic.twitter.com/T6rfXhYMxj
