Woman Orders Faux Fur Coat Seen On Instagram, Gets ‘Piece of Paper With Sleeves’
Image via Solelila Ordering online can prove to be tremendously risky, especially when the look of the product may differ from the image used to advertise it. 23-year-old Mikala ordered what she thought was a faux fur coat from the brand Solelila that was promoted on Instagram.
However, she was shocked when she saw the arriving order to be almost unrecognizably different. She described the coat as nothing more than “a piece of paper” but with sleeves.
Mikala said the coat she received is “so thin” that it is basically translucent, and that it feels “so flammable”, according to Metro UK.
She sought out the brand to complain using the customer service email from its official website. However, oddly enough, there was an automated mail saying the email address did not exist. Metro UK also reached out to Solelila for comment, and got back the same automated response.
There was also no instructions on how to return the item. Mikala had no choice but to try to wear it “once” for her “sanity” so not all is wasted. The tag on the coat also revealed that it was made of 95% polyester and 5% spandex, without any faux fur.
It turns out that the attractive image used for the coat is not even a design by Solelila, but one from the autumn 2018 runway show of designer Simonetta Ravizza. The image is also used by many cheap fashion sites including Bessyou and Kikimc, who sell the knockoff coat for US$75, as revealed by Metro UK.
Though the original coat is not on sale right now, Simonetta Ravizza coats are usually sold in the thousands. The fact that Mikala got her knockoff coat at a dubious US$50 is a strong hint that it would be disappointing.
Mikala has been traumatized by her experience and indicated that she would not be getting any products from Instagram promoted brands.
