Airport Surprised Travelers With Pies On Baggage Claim Belts For Thanksgiving
By Yimin Huang, 30 Nov 2019

US travelers at London’s Heathrow Airport have been surprised by pumpkin pies sent through none other than the airport baggage carousel, placed among the luggages.
The pumpkin pies were placed in the baggage claim area of Terminal 5, according to Insider. The plan was carried out through the partnership between Whole Food Market UK and the airport.
Passengers who travelled in from five flights that came from the United States on Wednesday morning got to enjoy pumpkin pies in wicket baskets for free. It was certainly a creative and heartwarming moment for Thanksgiving.
Ross Baker, the Chief Commercial Officer for Heathrow, stated that Heathrow is the “biggest gateway” for American travelers to arrive in UK, and that more than “700,000 passengers” would turn up in the time period between now and the New Year. Therefore, it is the prime time to welcome them and “celebrate Thanksgiving” with the touring crowd.
Besides the steady supply of pumpkin pies, baggage ambassadors were also in the hall to squirt whipped cream on the pies and wish the travelers a “Happy Thanksgiving.” Even the screens around the terminal participated by displaying holiday messages.
Jade Hoai, Director of Purchasing and Operations for Whole Foods Market UK also called Thanksgiving the “busiest time of year” for his seven UK grocery stores as Americans would purchase the food that reminds them of home.
He concluded with the heartfelt saying there would not be a real Thanksgiving without pie.
