Anyone whose photos are on the internet is, sadly, at risk of having them misappropriated. This is especially so for celebrities, whose likenesses have made their way into the creation of disturbingly lifelike deepfakes and 3D avatars for malicious purposes.
For Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers star Zoe Saldana, her face was unfortunately superimposed onto the body of a nude model, and the photo was circulated so wildly it reached her.
Perturbed, Saldana took to Instagram to call out whoever was responsible for the edit. In addition to posting the image, she wrote in her caption, “Whoever the f**k you are, stop posting this false picture of me. I have never, nor will I ever, have pictures like these taken of my body or myself.”
She also called the move “violating, offensive and insulting for women,” adding that she would “defend myself and… all women that cannot speak for themselves.”
“You will not hide like a coward on this platform and think you can get away with it,” she warned.
The incident is reminiscent of when Bella Thorne had been threatened by a hacker, and decided to share her nudes herself to hold power over the malevolent character.

I believe this is the one of the worst things that can happen to a girl. Morally it feels like rape. Women need to support each other&stop the laugh at feminity as a whole once and for all. ❤️#MeToo #ZoeSaldana #MCU pic.twitter.com/cm93CIivX9
