E.T. Christmas Ad’s BTS Footage Shows How The Alien Was Brought Back To Life

One of the most memorable holiday adverts from this year was the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial sequel of sorts by British telecommunications company Sky.
The commercial, produced by advertising agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners with its script co-written by Steven Spielberg, takes place 37 years after Elliott (played by Henry Thomas) and the lovable alien depart from each other.
In behind-the-scenes footage released by Sky, the creators of the spot reveal the reconstruction of E.T., which the team had hoped to be as faithful to the 1982 classic as possible.
“This is a character who’s beloved by everybody for generations,” they explain. “So you can’t screw it up.”
“We had a team of mechanics, painters, mold-makers that helped recreate this character,” they add.
