Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s latest announcement to exit the monarchy has dominated headlines all over the world.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have decided to “step back” from their royal duties after “months of internal discussions.” They also expressed their hopes of becoming “financially independent” while remaining committed to support the Queen.
Following the unprecedented news, the New York Post newspaper promptly released a preview of its front page for Thursday with the headline, “Megxit.”
The graphic shows the couple as “commoners” sitting on a couch, with Markle in her hair up in rolls and smoking a cigarette while her husband wears a soiled singlet and has a can of beer in hand.
Another publication, Betches, created a rather amusing tagline to illustrate the couple’s departure, writing, “Man vows to move out of parents’ house, give up allowance,” along with a photo of the couple and their baby.
