Baby Yoda is now strangely a MAGA icon, likely influenced by a meme that Donald Trump Jr. shared of his father as “The Magalorian.”
The beloved star from Disney+’s The Mandalorian was yet again spotted on an unofficial t-shirt being peddled outside Trump’s ‘Keep America Great’ rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The unusual merch, captured by ABC News reporter Will Steakin, showed an illustration of Baby Yoda with slight additions to his face to resemble more like Trump.
The character’s outfit was emblazoned, in a Star Wars-themed typeface, with the slogan, “Great America Keep,” replicating Yoda’s speech structure.
Despite the internet being in love with the adorable Baby Yoda, Steakin reported that the character wasn’t as popular at the site.
“The [vendor] said it’s ‘not selling as good as I thought it would,’” the reporter related.
Social media users are evidently displeased at the fan-favorite Star Wars character being associated with the US president.
“Why is someone always trying to destroy my perpetual childhood?” one Twitter user responds. “Well, he went to the dark side fast,” writes another.
Others are expecting for Disney to slap a lawsuit on the merchandise’s creator. If you recall, Baby Yoda graphics were banned from GIF search engine Giphy, as Disney did not want the character to be appropriated by others. However, the images were restored following widespread criticism.
