Heinz Ketchup Creates IMDb Page To Take Credit For Film Roles Ahead Of Oscars
By Izza Sofia, 07 Feb 2020
Ahead of the Oscars, Kraft Heinz Canada has launched a cheeky campaign to honor itself of the hard work it has put in as a cameo in movies.
The company worked with creative agency Rethink to launch an IMDb page for Heinz Ketchup. However, the page was soon taken down by IMDb.
In place of the removal, the company is asking fans to share movies featuring Heinz Ketchup on social media, and in return, they will be rewarded with a free bottle of ketchup.
By doing so, Heinz Canada’s senior brand manager Brian Neumann hopes it will get people talking about the ketchup especially during the award season.
Heinz Ketchup appeared in “countless films,” and the company felt that this was the “perfect time to reward fans for spotting it in movies,” Neumann continued.
Following in the footsteps of the brand Wilson—which has its own IMDb page—Rethink creative director Mike Dubrick told Muse that the campaign could help cement the ketchup brand’s legacy since it appeared in some of the greatest scenes in movies.
Though it is unfortunate that Heinz Ketchup’s IMDb page has been taken down, Dubrick hopes that the massive response would “convince IMDb to put it up again.”
