Burger King Proudly Shows Off Moldy Whopper In Nauseating Campaign
By Izza Sofia, 20 Feb 2020
Burger King has released a bizarre ad featuring a moldy Whopper, possibly as a middle finger to McDonald’s ever-lasting menu items that remain in perfect condition after years.
The fast food chain shared a time-lapse video of its burger decomposing and covered in mold after 34 days. The stunt is meant to tell customers that the chain is moving away from preservatives and artificial ingredients.
The ad starts with the brand showing off its flagship burger topped with tomatoes, lettuce and its special sauce on the first day. The burger eventually starts turning bad, with the tomato slices drooping and the lettuce wilting away.
Mold begins growing on the burger, with “white fluff” forming on the beef.
By Day 34, the burger ages into a gross but all-natural look spotted with green mold.
The chain captioned the ad, “The beauty of real food is that it gets ugly. That’s why we are rolling out a Whopper-free from artificial preservatives.”
The clip also reminds customers they shouldn’t leave a burger sitting too long unless they wish to have “new toppings” on them.
Preservative-free Whoppers will hit restaurants in the US by the end of 2020.
