A Japanese company has released a special budget phone that could benefit parents.
Tone Mobile presented the Tone e20, a phone that incorporates an AI-powered sensor forbidding users from saving or sharing naked shots with others.
Retailing for US$180, the phone has a 6.2-inch display, three 13-megapixels camera, and runs on a Helio P22 processor powered by Android 9.0. It also has a fingerprint sensor and a 3,900 mAh battery.
While the specs are decent, what makes the phone appealing are its ‘Smartphone Protection’ features that aren’t available in any iOS or Android device.
The phone’s camera has a built-in image recognition tool that is capable of labeling photos as inappropriate through the use of AI.
SoraNews24 reported that Tone Mobile hasn’t revealed details on what makes an image acceptable or inappropriate. However, updates from ‘Smartphone Protection’ can be synced to a parent or caretaker’s device.
When an inappropriate photo is taken, a notification will be sent to the parents, giving them details such as where and when the images were captured. A pixelated thumbnail version of the photo will also be sent to them.
