German sportswear brand Puma is raising some eyebrows after customers discovered similarities between its Storm Adrenaline sneaker and the facial features of Adolf Hitler.
According to RT, Russian social media users are criticizing that the footwear’s White/Black/Orange colorway has a black toe that looks like the Nazi Leader’s hair and a tongue mirroring his mustache.
One Twitter user suggested that the sneakers were a “disguised portrait” of Hitler, while another social media user said it was “8/10 on the Hitler scale,” as reported by LADbible.
The resemblance isn’t exactly obvious, as some customers expressed they have already worn the sneakers out a couple of times and haven’t noticed the likenesses. “I did not see it directly. I think it’s a bit far-fetched,” one critic commented.
The design has similarly drawn comparisons with US writer Edgar Allen Poe, Russian author Nikolai Gigol, and English comic Charlie Chaplin.
The colorway is no longer on Puma’s website, though you’ll still be able to purchase other variations at US$44.99.
