Marie Kondo sparked a whole wave of spring-cleaning when her Netflix show, Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, debuted in 2019. Now, she is moving her focus from homes to an entire town.
Netflix announced in a press release that an upcoming unscripted show—alongside sequels for Love is Blind and The Circle—will see the decluttering expert working with her team to “tidy one small town in America.”
So, which town is going to be subjected to the KonMari method? It actually hasn’t been decided yet. Viewers can nominate their town via a TidyMyTown.com microsite to give their area a well-needed facelift.
The website details that Kondo’s team could spark joy at the mayor’s office, local restaurants and bars, schools or classrooms, a fire station, rec centers, and community gardens.
Nominators will have to submit a video to show why their town would be a suitable candidate for the “joyful transformation.”
Those vying to spruce up their town will also have to answer a series of questions, such as what their town is famous for and what makes it unique, the population of the town, as well as which areas require tidying.
Of course, producers acknowledge that nominators will have to honor social distancing, so they can use existing footage too.
Netflix hasn’t confirmed when the new series will debut.
