Due to the global coronavirus outbreak, the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity has been Cannes-celed. In its place will be Lions Live, a free online platform that everyone can join.
Lions Live will be open throughout June, when the awards were supposed to take place, and will not only commend work from around the world but double as a digital channel for education and networking, Campaign US reports.
The platform isn’t made to recreate the festival—and is instead there to offer inspiration to global creatives during this trying period— but will include a number of awards like the Lion of St. Mark Lifetime Achievement Award.
First up, Cannes will be releasing its ‘The Work’ archive for free, which is normally only accessible by members. The collection comprises over 200,000 campaigns and 1,600 festival talks from past decades.
Cannes Lions will also open up lessons from its ‘42 Courses’ series of mogul-led masterclasses to everyone. Participants can enjoy lessons by industry leaders like DDB’s Keith Reinhard and VMLY&R’s Debbi Vandeven.
The organization will start releasing the full lineup of sessions and lessons for Lions Line in early June.
