A’ Design Award & Competition Unveils The Winning Entries From Around The World

2089 winners from 107 countries in 105 various design disciplines have been awarded with the prestigious A’ Design Award & Competition for its 2019-2020 edition. The annual competition offers recognition by granting a global stage to the most inspiring designs from around the world.
The distinguished competition awards notable designs in multiple levels of distinction: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Iron A’ Design Awards. Laureates of A’ Design Award & Competition are presented with international visibility, credibility and extensive PR coverage, on top of its sweeping winners’ kit. The award-winning designs will be honored with a 3D-printed trophy and winner’s certificate.
The benefits do not stop there, winners will also be featured in A’ Designs Award’s virtual and physical exhibitions, given sales listings for their designs, displayed in the award’s annual Yearbook, promoted in distinguished publications and be included in the World Design Rankings.
In addition, the winners will receive winner badges, which winning-creatives can utilize to add further significance to their award-winning projects, get an invitation to the award’s grand gala-night in Italy and more.
The design-focused platform encompasses everything design with 100 creative categories spanning from Packaging Design, Graphics and Visual Communications Design, to Web Design and Interior Space and Exhibition Design. Each of the entries will be judged by an esteemed jury panel of academics, established professionals press members.

Golden A’ Design Award Winner for Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design Category
The Cloud Chair designed by Shota Urasaki mimics a childhood fascination of sitting in the clouds. The polyester fibers and polyurethane foam on the high seating bring life to the designer’s adolescent imagination. The rain-like stainless steel legs add on to the idea of being on a raining cloud.

The Winetime Seafood packaging represents the freshness of the product by featuring a bright orange shade against the deep blue background, a nod to the color of the sea. The elements of simple visuals with the san serif font strive to compliment the overall packaging together.

Golden A’ Design Award Winner for Packaging Design Category
As the name suggests, the ‘Paranormal’ wine bottles depict the extra-terrestrial concept in its graphic design. The idea narrates a tale of mysticism with its choice of classic engraving and style of the typeface.
Solar Skywalks Energetic Activation of Footbridges by Peter Kuczia
>Platinum A' Design Award Winner for Architecture, Building and Structure Design Category
Peter Kuczia created the sustainable concept for the current footbridges in Beijing. The urban structure features ten rectangular portals that can generate 18,000 kWh of electricity per year. The project aims to use solar energy as a solution to China’s bustling cityscapes.
Wenzhou Urban Wetland Museum by Paul Bo Peng
Bronze A’ Design Award Winner for Architecture, Building and Structure Design Category
Located in the city of Wenzhou in China, the Wenzhou Urban Wetland Museum combines classical Chinese architectural design with a contemporary twist. The building intermingles various symbols with its local setting. The textural elements pay homage to the natural characteristics of the wetlands, while the floating boat market exudes the idea of people and culture.

Zhulin Shi’s Sense Move costume was created with the idea of dancing and performing. The costume’s light effects allow body movements to present various emotions from the performer to the audience. The suit has been showcased in experimental workshops and performances.
Poise Adjustable Table Lamp by Dabi Robert
Platinum A’ Design Award Winner for Lighting Products and Lighting Projects Design Category
Designed by Dabi Robert, the Poise Table Lamp presents flexibility and functionality in its minimal design. The T-shaped base, made of brass, offers three swivel joints that can be adjusted for complete flexibility. The heavy base adds weight to the light arm and ring, so the lamp is always displayed balanced.
GrowForest Educational Learning Toy by ChungSheng Chen
Silver A’ Design Award Winner for Toy, Games and Hobby Products Design Categor
The education learning toy is designed to teach children about the importance of forest conservation. In line with the concept, the toys use Taiwan domestic woods of acacia, incense cedar, Tochigi, Taiwan fir, camphor tree, and Asian fir to create the tree model.
Park Zoo Hotel by Li Xiang
Golden A’ Design Award Winner for Interior Space and Exhibition Design Category
The designer presents a memorable experience for the hotel visitors with elegant features, such as minimalist patterns, colors and abstract structures. The concept offers a realistic look into the survival of animals in the world. With the use of 3D printing technology, Li Xiang interjects animal models, along with elements that hint societal impacts on wildlife like biopharmaceuticals and Cat Shit coffee.
Discovery Exploration by Biwei Zhu
Golden A’ Design Award Winner for Interior Space and Exhibition Design Category
The museum holds around 500 artifacts from prehistory to Tang Dynasty in its space. Biwei Zhu maximized the interior space to offer a clean look for visitors to delve into the historical and cultural exploration. The prominent fixed structures are made of copper to ensure safety to the museum visitors.
Revival Cafe by Yen, Pei-Yu
Bronze A’ Design Award Winner for Interior Space and Exhibition Design Category
The cafe resides along with a building that was established in 1931. During the Japanese colonial period, the building functioned as the Tainan Police Station. Now, it is designated as a heritage by Tainan City and part of the Tainan Art Museum. Therefore, the cafe holds significance in its history. The cafe’s interior design aims to bring warmth to the visitors with lush colors in its velvet chairs and modern elements to intermingle with its the past.
Cornerstone Home Space by Zheng Xi Pang, Yun Ting Wu
A’ Design Award Winner for Interior Space and Exhibition Design Category
The home space was designed to exude a lively and cheerful appearance with the use of light colors. The curved ceiling and unique tiles create a unique personality to the living space. The areas were split and strategically organized to maximize the limited space.
Work Pod for Students Workstation by Ammar Kalo
A’ Design Award Winner for Interior Space and Exhibition Design Category
The design was birthed to tackle the lack of privacy in workstations by creating a comfortable work pod with a calming atmosphere. The colored vinyl graphics on the polycarbonate panels wrap allows privacy while keeping the environment brightly-lit. The work pod includes three different components, such as the aluminum structure, a polycarbonate skin, and wood furniture elements.
Moulin Rouge UI Design by Yuri Lee
Silver A’ Design Award Winner for Interface and Interaction Design Category
Taking inspiration from the 2001 film Moulin Rouge and her experience in Paris, Yuri Lee combines the two to create an idea of Moulin Rouge in Paris. The UI design sports dark blue and red tones seen in the film, which cleverly eases eyestrain for smartphone users, as well.

The redesign offers user-friendly features and streamlined the functions with a simple and neat layout. The website was redesigned after various research on its aesthetic appeal and functionality.
Typeface Calendar by Katsumi Tamura
Platinum A’ Design Award Winner for Graphics and Visual Communication Design Category
The calendar is created with typeface as its main concept. Each set comes with four sheets, which consists of months from January to December. The individual months takes the form of an original typeface. The sheets can also be assembled into calendar units that display three months of the year at once.

Silver A’ Design Award Winner for Graphics and Visual Communication Design Categor
The posters were done up for a fashion event hosted by Kingston University to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their MA Fashion course. Kalyani Kamat Bambolkar took on the number ten in the form of ‘X’ as the main element to represent the fashion event. The ‘X’ shapes can be seen on the marks left by designer clothes on the bodies.

The personal project by Jinho Kang highlights how a person’s thoughts and ideas can remain in their mind. The car symbolizes the ego, while the exaggerated eyes were purposefully made in a cartoon style to inject a little fun into the artwork.
Penguin Thermo jug by Fa Zaiyong
Silver A’ Design Award Winner for Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design Category
The Thermo jug showcase a penguin design, with the front end of the lid resembling a penguin’s beak. The back end of the top is also intentionally raised for functionality. The product’s copper-plated inner tank can hold water for 176°F (80°C) after six hours.
Float Strawless Bubble Tea cup by Fang Shih and Tian-Yu Wu

Float is a reusable cup that allows you to drink bubble tea without using a straw. The cup comes with a smaller compartment, which stores the bubbles over the drink. When sipped from the cup, both the tea and bubbles flow together in your mouth. The design offers a sustainable solution by alleviating the need for plastic use and disposable straws.
Table Dancers Stationery by Zhang Yingli, Xv Hongxin & Li Ruotong

Table Dancers Stationary adds some fun into everyday office tools. The designs took inspiration from dancers in red shoes. The line-up of stationeries includes a pair of compasses, a paper-knife, an eraser and a tape measure.
