After taking a hit at Fox News’ coverage of COVID-19, Jim Carrey decided to come after US president Donald Trump and British prime minister Boris Johnson over their apparently subpar handling of the virus.
Carrey reimagined the duo as the infamous twins from the classic horror film, The Shining. The artwork shows Trump and Johnson as the ghost twins, wearing blue dresses with pink waistbands.
“The novel virus has claimed over 90,000 lives in the US, while over 40,000 have died in the UK. Highest death tolls in the COVID world. Half of those deaths preventable. Redrum! Redrum! Redrum!” Carrey captioned his illustration.
Carrey also reflected the horror that resulted from the two leaders’ responses by including the famous line, “Come play with us.”
In the movie adaptation of the Stephen King novel, a spirit of a man who killed his wife and children takes over an aspiring writer, who was vacationing with his family in Colorado Rockies. While his son is in a trance, he reinterates the word, “redrum,” which his mother eventually realizes is the mirror image of “murder.”
