Kim Kardashian Criticized For Calling Black Face Mask ‘Nude’ On Dark Skin Model
By Izza Sofia, 20 May 2020
Kim Kardashian is getting admonished after describing a solid black mask on an African-American model as “nude.”
Kardashian released her new line of SKIMS face masks, which were created in “five shades of nude.” She also announced that her brand would be donating 10,000 masks to its charitable partners, including Baby2Baby and LA Food Bank.
Though the masks proved to be a hit among customers, others were quick to call out the reality television star after noticing a dark-skinned model donning a black mask, instead of wearing one that matched her skin tone.
“You do realize black people aren’t the color black like white people aren’t paper white?” one user voiced out on Twitter, while another said, “The nude shade for the black model is inaccurate and offensive.”
Others wrote that Kardashian had missed the mark with a few other shades of the masks as well. “The only one that’s right is the middle shade. The white one isn’t nude for a white person either,” one Twitter user commented.
Some social media users criticized the star for profiting off a pandemic, despite other brands selling masks to the public.
“This is extremely insensitive. People are losing their loved ones. Shame on you for trying to profit from a very serious matter,” one person tweeted.

You literally made the black models mask TOTALLY BLACK. You do realize black people aren’t the color black like white people aren’t paper white? The other skin tones are fine but why couldn’t you make a dark brown color?— Liz (@wednesdaycxfe) May 16, 2020

Are you really calling these nudes? I'm black and I would have to work on the sun for 100 years to get as dark as the last mask. How about you call them something else. Unless you designed it for Venom! pic.twitter.com/04sPi4iA71
