TikTokers are roasting Donald Trump again, and this time, they are deliberately abandoning their shopping carts at Trump’s official store.
After purchasing bulk tickets for Trump’s rally and not showing up, TikTokers are now going after his online store. The latest move involves filling up online shopping carts with ‘Make America Great’ sweaters and then abandoning them.
This is called “shopping cart abandonment,” and it can impact an e-commerce store by “signaling a poor user experience or broken sales funnel,” according to Optimizely.
TikTok users believe that by pulling this prank, it will encourage the Trump campaign to spend more money retargeting these “shoppers” on social media with messages that might entice them to complete their purchases, as adding items to cart is usually a strong indicator of interest.
However, since TikTokers have no intention of purchasing Trump’s merchandise, the money spent to convince supposed “interested shoppers” would be wasted. TikTok user @preveroni encourages other social media users to fill up their carts with tons of merchandise, and then “just forget to come back to check out.”
Daily Dot reported that retailers have spent over US$4.6 trillion in 2016 on having to influence people who left items in their shopping carts, waiting to be checked out.
