A famous feline has gotten a new neon look.
The cheeky and fun Pink Panther—famous for his pastel pink shade—has received a modern neon color scheme. The creator of the character, Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM), recently approached PANTONE to come up with a hue that would attract a new audience and generation.
Dubbed the ‘Pink Panther Pink’, the color features yellow and blue undertones and is designed to capture “the Pink Panther’s irreverent charm and suave sophistication, conveying he signature ultra-cool style of this lovable prankster.”
According to WWD, the PANTONE team looked at the character’s archives of old films and images to see how its color evolved through the year.
PANTONE Color Institute’s vice president Laurie Pressman said that the resulting update features a slightly subtler pink that “suits the character’s suave manner without losing sight of its mischievousness and vibrancy.”
