This week, an influencer’s personal assistant job listing went viral for its outlandish demands. The now-deleted ad called for applicants to “compartmentalize emotions” and “handle hundreds of small tasks at once,” among other things.
The opening for the position, posted on EntertainmentJobs.net on 29 July 2020, garnered attention after New York Times reporter Taylor Lorenz shared it on Twitter.
According to the description, a “well-known celebrity/influencer” with over 10 million followers was seeking a personal assistant to join her team.
Some of the job stipulations were to be “on [the] property around eight hours a day, cleaning, cooking, and preparing all production-related activities.”
These requirements were just the tip of the iceberg for a “part-time” job that promised to pay US$25 to US$30 per hour.
The listing insisted that applicants must “remain claim, rational, and hardworking at all times,” as well as “be on call almost 24/7.” Hopeful candidates must also “keep all emotion [and] private life matters completely away from this world.”
The job additionally required them to wake up the client every day with their coffee, drive the influencer everywhere, handle all personal tasks and “compartmentalize emotions.” Most importantly, they cannot be or seem “driven by fame.”
